MassDOT To Repair Route 6 Flashing Light This Week
TRURO — MassDOT crews are set to repair the flashing light on Route 6 this week, while Town Hall pushes to fill a DPW mechanic vacancy and the library prepares a busy slate of midweek programming.

MassDOT will conduct flashing light repairs on Route 6 in Truro on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-29, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a town advisory. Drivers should expect delays during those windows both days.
The Town of Truro is also seeking applicants for a year-round, union DPW Mechanic position working 40 hours per week; applications and copies of required licenses are due by Monday, August 3 at 3 p.m., per the town's announcement.
Separately, Barnstable County is circulating information about a proposed Charter Study Commission that will appear as a ballot question on the November 2026 state election ballot, including candidate requirements and filing deadlines for residents interested in serving.
Town officials are also updating Truro's Open Space and Recreation Plan, which will guide the town's open space and recreation priorities for the next decade. A virtual talk, "The Power of Connection: Creating Lasting Friendships in an Increasingly Lonely World," featuring Dr. Marisa Franco, is also scheduled that day.
The library's "Plant a Seed, Read" initiative, made possible by the Friends of the Truro Library, continues as part of its ongoing youth and community offerings. The Anne H. Brock Room is currently featuring artwork from the Truro Group as part of the library's rotating art displays.
On Thursday, July 30, the library's previously full "Introduction to Mahjong" class remains closed to new registrants, while Town Hall's calendar lists a performance by "Sensible Shoes and the Illustrious Subs" the same evening.

Affordable Housing Coordinator Katie Halvorsen will lead a workshop titled "Affordable Housing: Understanding the Basics" at the Truro Public Library on Thursday, August 6 at 10 a.m. Applications for the DPW Mechanic position are due Monday, August 3 at 3 p.m. The Pan-Mass Challenge is expected to bring cyclists through Truro on Sunday, August 2 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., a story town officials have continued to update as the ride approaches.
