Orleans EDC Backs Governor Prince Housing Project, Eyes Design Requirements

ORLEANS — June 9, 2026 — Orleans Economic Development Committee backs Governor Prince housing project and opens second grant round. The four-member committee, meeting June 9 with acting Chair Dick Hartman presiding, directed staff to draft a letter of support for the 78-unit Governor Prince affordable housing development — a three-phase project including 61 rental units for households earning 30 to 80 percent of area median income — before the Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing closes June 24. Elizabeth Jenkins, assistant director of planning and community development, confirmed the Select Board last week voted to require a local preference in the lottery-based tenant selection, and noted 80 percent AMI units are still expected to rent for $2,000 to $2,500 per month.
