Sandwich Launches America 250 Weeklong Celebration Through July 4

DATELINE — SANDWICH

The Town of Sandwich is mid-stride in a weeklong community celebration honoring America's 250th anniversary, with events running June 27 through July 4 and a public art unveiling on the calendar for Tuesday evening.

TOWN HALL

Sandwich kicked off its America 250 commemoration Saturday, with family-friendly programming scheduled throughout the week ahead of the July 4 holiday. The centerpiece on the immediate calendar is Tuesday, June 30, when the town hosts a public art unveiling and reception — the first major structured event of the week open to the broader community.

Also on residents' radar this week: Transfer Station permits expire June 30. Current 2025–2026 permits will no longer be valid after Monday, and the town is urging residents to renew before July 1 to avoid any lapse in access. Renewals cover the period through June 30, 2027.

Road work notices are also active. Drainage construction is scheduled for June 30 and July 1 on Kiahs Way near No. 57, with that section of roadway closed during work hours. Separately, resurfacing of Christopher Hollow Road and nearby streets is set to begin July 8; work runs 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with full access restored at the end of each workday.

The town's "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign, run jointly by the Department of Public Works and the Police Department, is in effect as summer traffic builds.
