Sandwich Town Charter Finalized After State Approval
SANDWICH — The Town of Sandwich announced that its updated Town Charter has been finalized after approval by the Massachusetts Legislature and Governor, marking a milestone in the town's governance structure ahead of a busy summer season.

The finalized Town Charter is now available for public review on the town website. Officials called the completion of the charter process a significant step for Sandwich's local governance, following its approval by state lawmakers and the Governor.
In other Town Hall news, officials posted the official results of the May 4 Annual Town Meeting and the May 7 Annual Town Election, thanking residents who participated. The town also reminded residents that 2026 Sandwich Beach Stickers are now available for purchase online at capecodbeachstickers.com or in person at the Tax Collector's Office at Town Hall.
The Department of Public Works announced scheduled road resurfacing on Highfield Drive beginning Monday, July 20, with work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; access to homes may be periodically delayed but restored each evening. A separate resurfacing project is also underway on Christopher Hollow Road and surrounding roadways, which began July 8 under the same access conditions.
The town additionally issued guidance on septic system maintenance, urging homeowners to follow simple upkeep practices to protect both their homes and Sandwich's water resources. Officials also continue to promote the "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign as the town prepares for a week of America 250 celebrations and the summer tourist season.

The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce and other community groups have several events on the calendar in the coming weeks, including the Sandwich Summer Craft Festival and the Sandwich Town Band's ongoing Summer Concert Series.

The Sandwich Summer Craft Festival runs Saturday, July 18, through Sunday, July 19. The Sandwich Bikeways & Pedestrian Committee meets Monday, July 20. The Commission on Disability Subcommittee meets Tuesday, July 21. The Sandwich Housing Authority meets Wednesday, July 22. MassDOT will host a public meeting on the Sagamore Bridge Replacement on Thursday, July 23, the same day the Sandwich Town Band holds a Summer Concert Series performance. The 1st Mill Creek Rubber Ducky Derby, hosted by the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, takes place Friday, July 24. The Sandwich Town Band returns for another concert Thursday, July 30. Road resurfacing work on Highfield Drive is set to begin Monday, July 20.
