Truro Honors Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach for 60-Plus Years at Central School
Truro is marking the end of an era at Truro Central School while simultaneously managing an active construction week along Pole Dike Road — two developments that together define the town's rhythm heading into the July 4th holiday stretch.

The town this week recognized two educators whose combined service to Truro Central School spans more than 60 years. Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach were honored for decades of dedication, compassion, and commitment that have shaped generations of students and strengthened the school community.
Separately, drivers on Pole Dike Road should expect delays beginning the week of June 29. Contractor N&M Excavating will be installing components on a newly placed culvert as part of the ongoing Herring River Restoration Project. The road will remain open, but crews working in the roadway will slow traffic.
The town is also updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan, which will set Truro's priorities for open space preservation and recreation programming over the next decade. Two additional items from Town Hall: the Select Board has scheduled a hybrid public hearing for July 28 at 5 p.m. to present its Goals and Objectives for fiscal year 2027 and review accomplishments from the concluding year. And the town is hiring a year-round DPW Mechanic — a union position at 40 hours per week — with applications due by Monday, Aug. 3 at 3 p.m.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library is currently displaying poetry by Jody Shyllberg in the Anne H. Brock Room, under the exhibition title "M-Ocean." The library is also running its seed-lending program — free seeds are available for residents looking to start or expand a home garden.
Coming up Tuesday, June 30, the library hosts three programs: a Mahjong session, a Children's Community Garden Group, and "Swords Through the Ages," a program examining edged weapons across history.
