Truro Seeks Resident Input on Decade-Long Open Space and Recreation Plan
With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, Truro is asking residents to weigh in on a sweeping update to its Open Space and Recreation Plan — a document that will guide the town's land and recreation priorities for the next decade.
TOWN HALL
The town has opened a public engagement process for its Open Space and Recreation Plan update, inviting residents to help set priorities for conservation, trails, parks, and recreation across Truro through the next 10 years. Residents can participate in a community forum, submit ideas or questions by email to pio@truro-ma.gov, or visit www.truro-ma.gov/osrplan for more information.
Separately, the town reminded residents of upcoming Independence Day closures: Town Hall and the Community Center will be closed on Friday, July 3, while the Truro Public Library and the Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday, July 4.
The town's homepage is also carrying an emergency alert warning of hot and humid conditions expected from July 1 through July 4. Residents should plan accordingly during the holiday stretch.
SCHOOLS
Truro honored two longtime educators, Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach, recognizing their combined 60-plus years of service to Truro Central School. The town cited their dedication, compassion, and commitment as having shaped generations of students and strengthened the school community.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library has a full slate of programs opening the week of July 1. On Wednesday, July 2, Urban Griots Playground Story Time and a Food for Kids program are both scheduled — the story time is listed under both general and youth events. Also on Wednesday, the library is hosting a Medication Support session with Honest Pharmacist and a Culinary Nutrition: Cooking for Health and Connection program. On Thursday, July 3, the Homeless Prevention Council will be offering outreach at the library, and a Mahjong session is also on the calendar. Note that the library itself will be closed on July 4.
