Truro Sets July 28 Hearing on Fiscal Year 2027 Goals
TRURO — Truro Central School is celebrating two educators with a combined six decades of service, while Town Hall moves forward on a decade-long open space planning effort and a hybrid public hearing on next year's town priorities.

The Select Board will hold a hybrid public hearing on Tuesday, July 28, at 5 p.m. to set its Fiscal Year 2027 Goals and Objectives, review the board's accomplishments from the concluding year, and assess progress against its prior goals, according to the town's News Flash announcement.
Separately, the town is updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan, a document that will guide Truro's open space and recreation priorities for the next decade. Residents can share ideas through an upcoming community forum, by emailing pio@truro-ma.gov, or by visiting www.truro-ma.gov/osrplan.
The town is also seeking applicants for a year-round DPW Mechanic position, a 40-hour-per-week union role. Applications, along with copies of required licenses, are due by 3 p.m. on Monday, August 3.
Residents should also expect traffic delays this week near Pole Dike Road, where N&M Excavating is installing culvert components as part of the Herring River Restoration Project. Detour routes run north and south of Pole Dike Road via Briar Lane and Coles Neck Road.
SCHOOLS
Truro Central School is honoring two "extraordinary educators," Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach, whose combined tenure exceeds 60 years of service to the school. Town officials credited the pair's dedication and compassion with shaping generations of students and strengthening the school community, according to the town's announcement.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library kicks off a new StoryWalk® installation, "Poo-Dunit? A Forest Floor Mystery," running Friday, July 10 through Friday, July 17. The library will also host an Artists Reception on Friday, July 10, tied to a new exhibit, "Art in the Anne H. Brock Room," featuring work from The Truro Group, and a "Soul Mapping" program the same day.
On Saturday, July 11, the library offers "Tech Help with Caleb" for residents needing one-on-one tech assistance, alongside a youth program, "Chain Reactions & Playful Contraptions."

The library's StoryWalk®, "Poo-Dunit? A Forest Floor Mystery," continues through Friday, July 17. Tech Help with Caleb and Chain Reactions & Playful Contraptions both take place Saturday, July 11. Mahjong is scheduled at the library on Tuesday, July 14. The Select Board holds Office Hours with Susan Girard-Irwin on Saturday, July 11, and the Part Time Resident Advisory Committee meets remotely on Monday, July 13.
