Trustees Approve Minutes, Review Draft AI Policy
Library · Meeting of September 8, 2026
ORLEANS — Snow Library trustees approve corrected minutes, send draft AI policy back for revisions. Library Director Tavi Prugno reported August operating spending at 15 percent of budget against a 16.6 percent target, while programs ran at 33 percent and museum passes at 39 percent due to front-loaded billing. Trustee Bill Powers presented an AI and online-presence policy modeled on Pembroke's, but members questioned a clause requiring staff to "review and validate" AI-generated content on library computers, with one trustee calling it "intrusive." Friends Representative Carolyn Millett, elected Friends president in July, reported $104,404 in fiscal 2026 revenue against $62,000 in expenses, and said the group is "desperately seeking" a new volunteer treasurer to replace Melinda Wander, who steps down in January.
Trustees also unanimously approved the July 7 meeting minutes after fixing a date error, and dropped plans to change their regular meeting day.
