Yarmouth Lands $25 Million Federal Grant for Route 28 Overhaul
YARMOUTH — Yarmouth has secured a $25 million federal BUILD grant to fund major safety and mobility improvements along Route 28, while the town's Health Department issued a cyanobacteria advisory for Wings Grove Beach at Long Pond.

The Town of Yarmouth announced Wednesday it has been awarded a $25 million federal BUILD grant for the Yarmouth–Barnstable Route 28 Improvements Project, a major infusion of funding toward a project with an estimated total cost of $62,413,490. The project aims to enhance safety, mobility, and traffic operations along one of the region's busiest roadways, according to the town's News Flash announcement.
Separately, the Yarmouth Health Department issued a water quality advisory for Wings Grove Beach on Long Pond on Wednesday, saying it is monitoring the potential for cyanobacteria growth at the site. The town also published its latest "Select Board Spotlight" covering the July 7 meeting, part of its ongoing series summarizing Select Board news and updates.

The Merrill Memorial Library has a busy stretch of summer programming ahead. On Monday, July 13, the library hosts "An Experiment in Birding" at 1 p.m., featuring Stacey Pazar Huth and Noah Gibb discussing their Maine Big Year birding project, followed by a "Jurassic Terrariums" children's craft program at 3:30 p.m. the same day.
The library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, and remain closed Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17, for the town's Clam Festival, reopening the following Monday. A "Birding in the Garden" program is also scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 15, ahead of the closure.
