Yarmouth ZBA Approves Taco Bell, National Grid Tank in Unanimous Votes

Yarmouth ZBA unanimously approves first Cape Cod standalone Taco Bell and a 100-foot National Grid LNG tank replacement. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 6-0 Thursday to grant a special permit to DDO Foods Inc. for a 2,094-square-foot Taco Bell at 433-439 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth, with Attorney Christopher Corain of Dunning, Corain, McNickelson, Garner presenting for the applicant. Chair Sean Igoe led the board in capping operating hours at 11 a.m. to midnight — rejecting the applicant's requested 2 a.m. close — and conditioning approval on removal of any "late night" corporate signage, morning-only tractor-trailer deliveries, crosswalk coordination with the town engineering department, and a one-year traffic review.
The board also split a second unanimous vote to approve a special permit and height variance for Boston Gas Company, doing business as National Grid, to replace an aging 2.1-million-gallon LNG storage tank at 127 Whites Path with a taller, double-walled 1.7-million-gallon tank rising up to 100 feet above grade — infrastructure the company says serves 130,000 Cape Cod customers, with construction slated to run from spring 2027 through 2031. A third petition, from Marino De Silva seeking a rear-setback variance for two unpermitted gazebos at 21 Woodbine Drive, was withdrawn without prejudice after the full board found the hardship self-created.
