Select Board Approves One-Year Plow Rate Hike
Harwich residents pressed the Select Board to explore alternatives to sewering for nitrogen removal.
Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026
Harwich residents pressed the Select Board to explore alternatives to sewering for nitrogen removal. Pleasant Lake resident Scott Norm and West Harwich resident Ms. Abramson asked the board to formally support Massachusetts House Bill 5576, which they said includes a $500,000 earmark for an eco-toilet demonstration project, before a legislative conference committee finishes work in early November. Abramson said the town's remaining five sewer phases now carry a $280 million price tag, up from an original $230 million estimate for the full nine-phase plan.
The board took no vote on the request. Separately, the board approved a one-year, $10-per-category increase in private snow-plow contractor rates, set the 2027 ABCC seasonal population at 36,000, and approved a $223,408.54 contract with Bear Communications Inc. for police dispatch upgrades, all unanimously.
