Conservation board denies River Street dock permit
Conservation · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Yarmouth Conservation Commission votes 0-5 to deny a River Street dock permit over four unmet variances. Engineer Jed Hanna told the board the town's Waterways Committee had already recommended denial over "too many piers in the Bass River," while Conservation Administrator Brittany DiRienzo said the application lacked a required alternatives analysis, calling a denial vote "non-surprising." Resident Mary Bronski argued a second dock on the easement-governed property "is the opposite of conservation." The commission did unanimously recommend state-level approval for the same project before rejecting it locally. Elsewhere, the board approved an 11-unit mixed-use redevelopment at 645 Route 28/14 Appleby Road 5-0 with one abstention, approved a Merchant Avenue stone revetment reconstruction pending minor revisions, and continued bank-stabilization and pool projects at Erik's Path and Covey Drive to October.
